Dhol sets explained: length, music and working with your DJ
Last updated 30 October 2026
A dhol set is usually a pre-mixed run of bhangra and English tracks, 20 to 30 minutes long, played live. Songs can be added and the players work alongside your DJ.
How long it lasts
20 to 30 minutes. It is built to start hard, hold the floor and finish high. If your venue caps the length, tell us early and we shape the set to fit.
What music is in it
Mainly bhangra with English tracks mixed in, which suits a room of mixed ages. Bollywood sets are available if your guests lean that way. Ask when you enquire.
Choosing your own songs
You can have your own tracks added at the end of the set. Agree them beforehand so the team can plan the change and your DJ knows when to take over.
Working with the DJ
The players drum live over the DJ's tracks and hand back and forth. Freestyling with the DJ lifts a floor fast. Give us your DJ's contact and they will sort the plan.
When to place it
Most couples put the main set in the second half of the night, once the floor is busy. Check your venue's finish time first.
