Why dhol players charge for time on site
Last updated 30 October 2026
You are paying for the team's day, not only the minutes of drumming. A 7pm entrance and an 11pm set can tie a team up for five or six hours, and that time cannot be sold twice.
A typical reception evening
The entrance is early. Then comes the meal, speeches and first dance. The main set waits until the floor is busy, often 11pm or later.
Add travel and the team is on site and ready the whole time.
Why a dhol set costs less
With no early entrance, the team arrives closer to the set and is with you for far less time. That is why a dhol set starts from £395, an entrance from £295 and an entrance plus set from £495. A full day from £695 covers the baraat, entrance and set with one team.
How to cut the time
Move the main set earlier, or put the entrance and set in the same window. Share the running order and we will say what saves the most.
Booking the baraat and reception with one team also spreads travel across both.
Comparing quotes
Compare like for like: players, set length, performances, time on site, travel and insurance. A lower price that leaves something out is not lower.
